We deliver the New Zealand curriculum to Deaf and hard of hearing students from years 1 to 15, including NCEA pathways. Our teachers and specialists recognize the unique learning needs of their students through personalized programs.

Totara Village is a vibrant residential option for Deaf / hard of hearing students ranging from Intermediate to post-Secondary age, in a “semi-independent” living situation, providing a caring and supportive “home-away-from-home”.

KDEC employs Resource Teachers of the Deaf in the North Island north of Whakatane / Turangi / Taumarunui. RTDs work with students who are in and attend their local school. They may also work with the deaf student's mainstream teacher as well as their family and whānau.

Kelston Deaf Education Centre offers a unique bi-lingual pre-school programme for children who are deaf and hearing with a strong focus on developing communication skills using both New Zealand Sign Language and English.
