Kelston Deaf Education Centre in partnership with the Advisors on Deaf Children (MoE Learning Support) encourage all educational professionals working with learners who have a hearing loss to register for this course in Term 1, 2020.
This course will give you an understanding of basic audiology, support services for Deaf and hard of hearing learners, communication and classroom management, listening technology and an awareness of challenges to a Deaf learner's language development

Terms and Conditions
This course is designed to give you an understanding of Deaf culture, the difference between NZSL and English, communication and classroom strategies, inclusive practices and an awareness of what is key to a Deaf learner’s language development
Light lunch and morning tea provided. If you have severe food allergies, please provide your own lunch as we are unable to guarantee the elimination of some ingredients. In order for us to prepare course materials, activities and meals we would appreciate your registration in no later than one week before the date of the course.
Please note: As of 23rd March 2020 these courses have been cancelled following Ministry of Health guidelines (COVID-19). Anyone already registered will be notified via email and full refunds will be arranged.
