Mission Statement

The purpose of the Totara Village Residence is to provide a safe, comfortable and nurturing enviroment for Deaf and Hearing Impaired residents who live away from home to attend Kelston Deaf Education Centre's Transition Department or the following schools: Kelston Girls' College, Kelston Boys' High School, Kelston Intermediate.

The Totara Village staff is committed to working closely with both the students and their parents to make sure that the student's cultural, physical, social and emotional needs are met in a positive and supportive way. The programme is designed to encourage the students to develop the their individual talents and abilities; and to improve their communication skills.
